“Photography is an austere and blazing poetry of the real.” – Ansel Adams.
Letitia Green is a multi-disciplinary visual artist based in Australia. With a career spanning 20 years, her work has encompassed illustration, graphic design, textile design, fashion and most recently, photography. It was becoming a finalist in the Fremantle International Portraiture Prize 2019 that led her to commence formal training at Photography Studies College, and to follow what feels like her ‘soul’s work’. Her work has since been showcased in Format Festival United Kingdom 2021, Photo Festival (Melbourne) 2022, shortlisted for awards and The camera has become an extension of Letitia, and has enabled her to explore and create, as she uses the medium to connect and communicate in more experimental ways.
Letitia’s photographic work explores portraiture, fashion and still life photography, expertly informed by her successful career in art and design. Her personal body of work focuses on her relationship with the world and motherhood, whilst professionally she has covered portraiture, events and interiors for the non-profit group Beaumaris Modern since 2019, fashion for iconic Australian designer Megan Park, and ongoing captures the innocence of orphaned lambs for Lamb Care Australia, to name a few.
With her work in visual art being described as joyous, bold and vibrant, her journey into photography is more subtle and has allowed Letitia to connect more deeply with herself and her subjects. From behind the lens, she aims to bring to light the emotions and complex layers that sit under the skin, and encourage us all to see the beauty that lies within.
